Premium subscription service TikTok Music has launched in Indonesia and Brazil. The new social music streaming service will “harness the power of music discovery on TikTok, helping users to enjoy their favourite viral tracks”, according to their announcement.
Users will be able to listen, download and share full tracks with their community, and to switch between TikTok and TikTok Music. The app is licensed with all three majors and Merlin for the indies, Music Week confirmed.
The new streaming site offers users a catalogue of music from thousands of labels and artists, as well as uninterrupted ad-free listening and a download function for listening offline.
Though the exciting music streaming service is available today in Brazil and Indonesia, TikTok has yet to confirm other territories’ launches. The territories that the app is currently available in however does serve as a huge sample size to judge how the app is performing.
It is yet to be seen what the global success of the app will be, but in an industry that is hard to break into in a big way in 2023, the links to the social media giant might just give this streaming site the leg up it needs to make it in a big way.
