Tidal Price Increases - Spotify Break The Mould - Publication Site

Tidal has announced they will be joining Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and other music streaming services in raising its monthly subscription from £9.99 to £10.99 from August 1st

The 10% price hike for Tidal is to be expected within the competitive market, after Deezer first raised their prices from £9.99 to £11.99 back in October 2021. Apple Music then followed suit just over a year later, raising their price to £10.99.

However, despite these price rises across the industry Spotify seem to be choosing to go against the grain. If recent reports are accurate, Spotify’s base price will remain £9.99, with the music streaming giant adding a new ‘Supremium’ tier.

This new plan will reportedly include HiFi audio and more audiobook access. It will launch first in non-U.S. markets later this year. Though users should be happy with the base price holding firm, the future implications of charging extra for higher quality audio is certainly something to keep an eye on.
