Spinnin’ Records Partners With AI Firm For Soundscape Creation

Berlin-based AI sound wellness firm Endel has joined forces with Spinnin’ Records, Warner Music Group’s electronic music label, to develop a series of soundscapes for purposes like focus, relaxation, movement, and sleep. This marks Endel’s most extensive project to date, with the company collaborating with Spinnin’ Records to produce 50 soundscape album playlists. These releases will be rolled out under a new profile called Spinnin’ Cosmos, with involvement from artists like Brazilian DJs Felguk and Italian production and DJ duo Vinai.

Electronic music boasts approximately 1.5 billion global listeners, ranking as the third most popular music genre worldwide. Endel, known for co-creating generative AI soundscapes with artists like Plastikman, Grimes, and 6lack, employs its AI engine to take entire music catalogs and craft a new category of functional music. In partnership with Spinnin’ Records, Endel aims to leverage the potential of electronic music in different aspects of daily life.

Oleg Stavitsky, co-founder and CEO of Endel, emphasized the scale and ambition of this collaboration, anticipating that it will define a new class of functional music that extends beyond traditional playlists and white noise. It represents the first step in a broader strategic partnership between Warner Music Group and Endel, seeking to expand AI’s ethical impact on current and catalog artists’ creative horizons.

Steven de Graaf, commercial director, and Susanne Hazendonk, VP of marketing at Spinnin’ Records, praised the transformative power of electronic music, emphasizing the collaboration’s opportunity to tap into its life-enhancing qualities for various purposes such as relaxation and sleep. By fusing Spinnin’s iconic sound with Endel’s technology and scientific expertise, the partnership aims to create a unique audio experience.

Endel’s previous work with individual artists to transform their distinctive sounds into functional music has set the stage for this broader collaboration. By using their AI engine to transform a substantial number of tracks from Spinnin’s extensive catalog into life-enhancing albums and playlists, the two companies are poised to reach a larger audience and enhance their lives through innovative music experiences.
